membros do grupo.
With the increasing use of information and communication technologies, especially with the interconnection of computers and mobile devices in high-speed networks, the search for solutions based on these modern technologies is increasing to promote the improvement of the processes and the renewal of methods in the area of education, both in distance learning and in-class teaching activities. In this way, the present work proposes a method of learning whose main point of support is the theory of communities of practice, developed by Etienne Wenger. Following this concept, through a collaborative process the participants of a virtual community can share and produce knowledge on concepts and techniques of sound synthesis, an area of professional performance that is growing both in the production of electronic music and in support activities for video, cinema and advertising, although in Brazil there are few options for learning. To implement such a process in a perspective of a community of practice, it was created the Grupo de Estudos de Síntese Sonora, a virtual learning environment using the Moodle platform, where different collaborative activities are promoted among its members. The process was designed in such a way to increase the scope and the intensity of learning in this technical/artistic professional segment, so all participants can collaborate by presenting their different personal experiences, discussing techniques, proposing solutions, testing procedures and, thus, building a shared and cumulative knowledge that is available to all. Unlike traditional methods, which are centered on the unidirectional transmission of knowledge through a predetermined study route, in this learning process there is effectively no previous curriculum or script to follow, and learning is developed through the interaction of the participants. The concept of collaborative learning, which underlies the present work, is based on the sociocultural perspective, in which the individual interacts with the social environment, according to the principles of the theory proposed by Vygotsky, which advocates the importance of the social practices on the creation of knowledge. The research methodology adopts data collection by questionnaires applied to the community participants and also through the observation of the process and the content analysis of the discussion forums, using the method proposed by Garrison and collaborators, based on indicators that evaluate the sociocognitive development in assynchronous communication messages.
