As considerações teóricas
envolvimento gera mais e melhor aprendizagem.
This research aims to develop a gamified class on object-oriented programming (OOP), based on the principles and best practices identified in the literature and from professionals in the area, adapting the elements and mechanics of games to the characteristics and needs of students and the pedagogical objectives and content to be taught. The research question is: How can gamification be applied to the teaching of object-oriented programming and what are its impacts on students' learning and motivation when learning OOP? Theoretical considerations include grounding on the Java programming language, object oriented programming, and gamification, with concepts and practical applications, and understanding class in the context of education. To collect empirical data, a conversation wheel was held based on Weller (2010) with software engineering professionals in various countries in order to understand the relevance of the Java language in the international job market and its importance. The research results in a class that uses gamification elements, including scoring, instant feedback, challenges, and rewards, to teach object oriented programming with the Java language. It is concluded that gamification can be a motivational strategy to teach object-oriented programming, making the learning process more engaging for student engagement. Involvement generates more and better learning.
