O uso da ferramenta virtual uptodate como prática de aprendizagem de um curso de medicina

Abstract

Os sistemas informatizados são fundamentais na área da saúde e estão intrinsicamente associados ao ensino e a prática médica. Na pesquisa acadêmica as ferramentas tecnológicas suplantam paradigmas convencionais relacionados ao uso do livro em papel e se fazem presentes nas metodologias de ensino e aprendizagem. Este estudo teve por objetivo relacionar o uso da ferramenta online UpToDate enquanto prática pedagógica no ensino médico da UFPR - Universidade Federal do Paraná. A pesquisa foi efetuada a partir de dados de registro e acesso à ferramenta no período de 2010 a 2017. Os resultados indicaram um aumento significativo (80%) no número de acessos ao longo do período. Os acadêmicos foram os que mais utilizaram a ferramenta (46,68%), seguido pelos médicos (29,42%) e residentes (16,15%). O uso do UpToDate na UFPR por residentes foi maior justamente nas especialidades médicas de maior destaque, a saber: Clínica Médica, Medicina da Família e Pediatria que são as que são preconizadas nas normativas do Sistema Único de Saúde - SUS e do Ministério de Educação e Cultura – MEC, com vistas a melhorar a saúde da população. A facilidade e rapidez de acesso, confiabilidade e profundidade de cobertura são vantagens inerentes à ferramenta, tornando mais fácil a prática da medicina baseada em evidência. Adicionalmente, o UpToDate contribui para a melhoria da gestão e organização hospitalar, proporcionando maior qualidade de atendimento aos pacientes, diminuindo custos, tempo de tratamento, taxa de mortalidade, erros de diagnóstico ambulatorial e a necessidade de exames. Concluise que o UpToDate é uma ferramenta educacional tecnológica que melhora o ensino e a aprendizagem na área médica. A fim de auxiliar na otimização do uso da ferramenta foi elaborado um tutorial para utilização do UpToDate.

Computerized systems are fundamental in the area of health and are intrinsically associated with teaching and medical practice. In academic research the technological tools supplant conventional paradigms related to the use of the paper book and are present in teaching and learning methodologies. This study aimed to relate the use of the online tool UpToDate as pedagogical practice in medical teaching at UFPR - Federal University of Paraná. The research was carried out from data of registry and access to the tool in the period of 2010 to 2017. The results indicated a significant increase (80%) in the number of accesses during the period. Academicians were the ones who used the tool most (46.68%), followed by doctors (29.42%) and residents (16.15%). The use of UpToDate in UFPR by residents was greater precisely in the medical specialties of greater prominence, namely: Medical Clinic, Family Medicine and Pediatrics, which are those recommended in the regulations of the Unified Health System - SUS and the Ministry of Education and Culture - MEC, with a view to improving the health of the population. The ease and speed of access, reliability and depth of coverage are inherent advantages of the tool, making it easier to practice evidence-based medicine. In addition, UpToDate contributes to the improvement of hospital management and organization, providing a better quality of care to patients, reducing costs, treatment time, mortality rate, outpatient diagnostic errors and the need for exams. It is concluded that UpToDate is a technological educational tool that improves teaching and learning in the medical field.
