    Abstract

This research, linked to the Professional Graduate Program in Education and New Technologies – Research Line: Teacher Education and New Technologies in Education, within the Research Group Educação e Cidade Educidade) Research Project Texere: Memories, Society, Culture, and Technologies focuses on the theme “Whiteness and Education for Ethnic-Racial Relations.” The study begins with the question of whether and how teachers’ ethnic-racial belonging (white, non-white, etc.) influences the implementation of Education for Ethnic-Racial Relations. It examines whether there are processes of teacher education that foster critical and inclusive racial education within the school context. The main objective is to critically analyze how the ethnic-racial belonging of teachers in the early years of Elementary Education influences the construction of their pedagogical practices and the implementation of Laws No. 10.639/2003 and No. 11.645/2008 in school curricula, seeking to understand the extent to which such practices contribute to the consolidation of an antiracist, intercultural, and socially equitable education. The research involved analyzing the curricula developed in public municipal schools in Colatina-ES, as well as consulting teachers and students regarding the challenges and obstacles faced in the effective implementation of these laws, highlighting gaps and areas for improvement. The theoretical framework is grounded in a decolonial perspective, prioritizing renowned authors who both escape and challenge the Eurocentric canon. The findings revealed that the implementation of ERER still occurs in a fragmented and superficial manner, marked by weaknesses in teacher education and by the absence of critical racial literacy. It was also found that teachers’ ethnic-racial belonging directly influences perceptions and pedagogical practices, contributing, in some cases, to the maintenance of silencing processes and racial inequalities within the school environment. The thesis defended is that the effective implementation of an anti-racist education depends on the critical problematization of whiteness, the appreciation of Afro-Indigenous knowledge, and teacher education committed to racially conscious and socially equitable pedagogical practices. This dissertation resulted in the development of the Educational Product "Afro Indigenous Trail of Espírito Santo," a technological resource that enables the recognition of subjects historically rendered invisible by school curricula, strengthening processes of identity formation, representation, and ethnic-racial belonging.
