Tecnologias do Centro Universitário Internacional (UNINTER) e visa qualificar
docentes e estimular a pesquisa sobre o desenvolvimento educacional no Brasil,
especialmente, no contexto das novas tecnologias. A pesquisa ocorre junto ao Grupo
de Estudos Pesquisa História, Educação, Sociedade e Políticas (GHESP). Nesta
Soares (2002, 2005, 2009), Kleiman (2005), Ribeiro (2016), Coscarelli (2016), Moreira
(2012), Mill (2013), Tardif (2014), Nóvoa (2015, 2022), Saviani (2011) e outros autores
do professor.
This study is linked to the Graduate Program in Education and New Technologies at the International University Center (UNINTER) and aims to qualify teachers and encourage research on educational development in Brazil, especially within the context of new technologies. The research is carried out in collaboration with the Research Group on History, Education, Society, and Policies (GHESP). The general objective of this study is to promote the continuing education of Portuguese language teachers through pedagogical practices that incorporate educational technologies in the teaching of reading and writing using multimodal texts in classroom settings of public schools in the state of Rondônia, specifically in 9th-grade classes. It is a field research study, conducted through a qualitative approach of an exploratory and descriptive nature. The theoretical framework is based on reflections about technology and the pedagogical foundations of teacher training in reading and writing, drawing on the contributions of Soares (2002, 2005, 2009), Kleiman (2005), Ribeiro (2016), Coscarelli (2016), Moreira (2012), Mill (2013), Tardif (2014), Nóvoa (2015, 2022), Saviani (2011), among other authors who refer to our object of study. The project was approved by the Ethics and Research Committee (CEP), according to the Certificate of Presentation for Ethical Consideration (CAAE) No. 80248024.3.0000.557 and Opinion No. 6.922.376. The data collection instrument was a Google Forms questionnaire with structured questions, while data analysis followed the methodological guidelines of Severino (2017) and Bardin (1977, 2016) through content analysis. After data collection, the results were analyzed in four thematic categories: Pedagogical practice of reading/writing with digital multimodal genres; Availability of multimedia resources in schools; Impacts of the digital era on reading and writing; and Educational technologies and teacher professional development. The study recommends integrating the pedagogical practice of reading and writing multimodal texts with the tools of new digital educational technologies, as outlined in the BNCC (National Common Curricular Base) and the Curricular Framework of the State of Rondônia (RCRO). Despite technological advances in the contemporary educational context, the research identified both the absence and irregular use of digital reading and writing tools and multimodal text resources in pedagogical practice, as a consequence of inadequate school infrastructure for virtual learning environments. We also identified limitations in incorporating new digital languages into Portuguese language teaching, as demonstrated by the persistence of traditional and conservative grammatical approaches to the written standard in teachers’ discourse. Regarding continuing education, there is an urgent need for public investment in teachers’ pedagogical and technological innovation. In summary, we align with Mill (2013) in emphasizing the relevance of the four inseparable elements of education: management, teaching, learning, and technology in pedagogical practice.
