A hipótese
contribuições teóricas de Feuerstein para a educação e para a formação docente;
informais.
This dissertation investigates the methodology of Mediated Learning Experience (MLE), developed by Reuven Feuerstein and grounded in the Theory of Structural Cognitive Modifiability (SCM), as an approach to teacher education in the face of the challenges posed by digital competencies in the 21st century. The central hypothesis lies in the lack of theoretical and practical frameworks regarding teacher education methodologies aligned with contemporary demands, especially given the finding that many public school teachers remain distant from digital culture. This gap became evident during the COVID-19 pandemic, when teachers’ difficulties in using basic technologies for remote teaching intensified, revealing limitations in continuing education and a generational disconnect regarding digital culture. From this perspective, the research problem seeks to explore the possibilities of the Mediated Learning Experience (MLE) methodology for the development of teachers’ digital competencies, as outlined by the Brazilian National Common Curricular Base (BNCC). The general objective of this study is to develop a guide for teacher training in the use of digital technologies, based on the STEAM methodology and articulating the principles of MLE. The specific objectives include analyzing Feuerstein’s theoretical contributions to education and teacher training; discussing the fundamental concepts of MLE and its applicability in teacher education; and understanding the limits and potential of integrating digital technologies into school routines through mediative processes. The research adopts a qualitative approach, characterized by a systematic literature review (2003–2024) and content analysis of theses, dissertations, and articles. The main findings indicate that MLE, by prioritizing mediation and cognitive transformation, contributes to the development of digital competencies and to the integration of teachers into digital culture, promoting innovative and inclusive pedagogical practices. Among the study’s limitations, the scarcity of national research on the application of MLE in teacher education for digital technologies stands out, as well as the structural and access difficulties faced by many teachers. The final product connects mediation to digital competencies through the STEAM methodology, offering resources for continuing education and for teaching practice in both formal and informal educational environments.
